It’s a project that myself, Tamia and Kelly Price have put together. We’ve recorded some songs and have decided to do an album, and it’s really an empowering women’s project. We sing songs that deal with different types of issues. Our main focus is women because we’re moms and we’re in an industry that tells you that if you’re a mother or working mother, you ain’t cute enough, or sweet enough, or look good enough to be in this business. We’re here to say, hey, you can still be a mommy and still have values and still raise your kids and still be a working mom; whether you’re in the music business or not. We decided to come together and spread that message and remind women they were born queens.

Also please be aware that the Queen Project has NOT been canceled. Deborah also said in an interview last month that they would be coming out soon. You can watch the short interview here. From what I can piece together from various interviews of Deborah’s and Tamia’s as well as Tamia’s tweets: The Queen Project will release a single, then an album. While they are on tour they will be performing as the Queen Project AND performing solo sets with old and NEW material. At the end of the tour they will each (or at least Tamia will) branch out on their own and release their own SOLO albums while still caring the message of the Queen Project.

Tamia, if/when you read this, please correct me if I am wrong.

Sidenote: The Queen Project were not on the final list of performers for BET’s Celebration of Gospel.

Saturday, February 6, Russell Simmons & Dr. Ben Chavis will host the annual Hip Hop Summit. Sean Kingston will celebrate his birthday on the beach hosted by Roxy & Terrance of 106 N Park with several live surprise performances. The not-for profit organization Starlent will be hosting a talent showcase for up-and-coming artists. Later in the evening Musiq Soulchild, Tamia, Debra Cox, and Kelly Price of the Queens Project will host an indoor concert at Jungle Island and later that evening Common will host a star-studded beach concert and after party with friends, Cool & Dre, MC Lyte, and Biz Markie.

Tamia to Attend ‘Divas Simply Singing’

 Posted by George under News

Two thirds of the trio known as TDK The Queen Project– Kelly Price and Tamia — will be joining the lineup of talent singing on behalf of HIV/AIDS awareness, Ralph announced today.

Price and Tamia will be joining the previously announced Faith Evans, Yolanda Adams, Brenda Russell, Jennifer Lewis, Yo Yo, Barbara Morrison, Frenchie Davis, and neo-soul artist N’dambi, along with original Dreamgirls star Loretta Devine and Ralph herself.

Created and produced by Ralph, Divas Simply Singing! is an annual benefit concert, produced in conjunction with The DIVA (Divinely Inspired Victoriously Anointed) Foundation to help raise money and awareness about HIV/AIDS. Divas Simply Singing! is the longest consecutive running AIDS benefit concert in Los Angeles and has raised millions of dollars to help and assist AIDS organizations in Los Angeles and around the world.

Divas Simply Singing! will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at the Saban Theatre (formerly Wilshire Theatre), located at 8440 Wilshire Blvd. in Beverly Hills. For ticket information, phone 323-655-0111.

P.S. There is NO TDK…They are called, ‘The Queen Project’
